This month SAOL Project is nominating and then voting for our ‘Women of the Year’ 2019. We want to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements and strength of women.

There will be two stages in this process:

Nominations

From Monday February 11th – Friday February 15th, SAOL participants, students, volunteers and staff can nominate women in the three categories:

‘SAOL Woman of the Year’

‘Irish Woman of the Year’

‘Global Woman of the Year’

A ‘nominations form’ will be available for this. A separate sheet will be needed if you want to nominate more than one woman for the categories.

Examples:

SAOL Woman of the Year - someone associated now or in the past with SAOL who you feel is a great role model

‘Irish Woman of the Year’ – an Irish woman who you feel is inspiring, e.g. Saoirse Ronan – actress, or Anna Burns winner of the Man Booker Prize

‘Global Woman of the Year’ – a non-Irish woman who you feel is inspirational, or who has achieved great things e.g. Malala Yousafzai - Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate.

Ballot

From Tuesday February 19th – Thursday February 21st, SAOL participants, students, volunteers and staff can vote for the women of their choice from the short-list in the three categories.

A ballot form will be available for this.

All short-listed candidates will be notified and invited to our celebrations on International Woman’s Day (March 8th) when the winners will be announced.

SAOL Participants (past and present), staff and BoM are eligible to vote.  Please contact jane@saolproject.ie for more details.
